Burke Playing With Fire .... Plus Frolov Note

Brian Burke is a smart man, and has really put his mark on the Leafs over the past few seasons. His greatest or worst move could be made in the next few weeks. What was thought to happen at that draft in L.A has still yet to transpire. Could Burke be playing with fire.

Burke is admament to get the return he wants, which according to TSN is a Top 6 Forward and a pick, and he is really waiting it out to get just that. The question is will he. Certainly time is on his time isnt it.

There are just three short weeks until Kaberles clause goes back into place and he remains a leaf for the upcoming season. His agent says Kaberle wishes to remain a leaf,I just cant imagine a guy who is being publicly shopped and constantly talked about in the media in regards to what return he would bring back, would even think of resigning.

It is speculated that there are 5 top destinations from San Jose to Columbus, and names being floated like Neal, Brassard, Clowe and Simmonds. Time will indeed tell where he will go, and until that time comes, we will axiously speculate the great Kaberle debate.

I personally think it is a matter of when! Burke is using the media as an outlet to drive up the price, to seem as if he has the upper hand, and I do believe he can create a bidding war for the all-star vetern defenseman, I also think he will not look to rob the bank but get a fair return for Kaberle.

This can be the biggest move Brian makes, or could be the biggest disaster.TSN also reports that it willbe the first of August before we find out exactly what will happen with number 15.

On a side note Frolov is close to signing a 1yr 800'000-1'000'000 contract... pretty fair price for Frolov. If you ask me, I think burke should take a flyer on that price and term.
