Great news last night for Leaf fans, Burke aquired a top six forward in Versteeg. He should be a second line winger as Kessel is ahead of him on the depth chart.
This is a great aquisition, coming fresh off a stanley cup win , he knows what it takes to win a championship and will be looked to for a bit of leadership.
Sweat a second round draft pick is projected as a smart two-way forward who is a few years off of playing in the NHL.
Leafs send Stalberg, Didaminco , and Paradis the other way. Chicago was looking for a first at the drafy, so I think Burke made a smart deal here that will be good for both sides.
There is a rumor floating that Burke would love to land Brayden Schenn from L.A. The only reason I post this, is that there were talks that Toronto was after Simmons or Brown from L.A, with Kaberle being the prize from Toronto. Maybe talks have shifted to the draft pick Burke publicly coooed over two years ago.
Kulemin talks are close and far away according to two major sources in Dreger and Kypreos. Dreger says Kulemins car is more money than the gap between the parties.
Should be a fun day, I will be iterested to se who lands in Toronto today, and if Burke will pull the trigger on a few more deals.
Stay Tuned...
